Nick Lachey talks Jessica Simpson engagement

It was mere days after Nick Lachey announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo that Jessica Simpson appeared wearing an engagement ring of her own. Now Nick is talking about it, and while he's superficially nice, his tone seems grudging.

The 37-year-old singer (is he still a singer?) told Us Weekly, "I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best."

Compare that to Jessica's good wishes for Nick last week: "Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I do, and I really wish them nothing but the best."

A little more personal, wouldn't you say?

Nick also got a bit snippy when asked what took him so long to propose to Minnillo. "All things have their appropriate time, so thank you," he snapped. Nick and Vanessa broke up for a spell during the summer of 2009 amidst rumors she wanted marriage but he wouldn't commit.
