West's Today Show Rampage
During a Today interview aired November 11, Matt Lauer and Kanye West shared a tense moment that all led back to his 2009 VMA appearance.

Kanye on the defense
Kanye West was offended when Today host Matt Lauer played a video clip of West's famous Taylor Swift incident at the 2009 VMAs. The big deal? The clip was played while he was trying to discuss President George W. Bush's reaction to West's 2005 statement that Bush "didn't care about black people."
"Yo, how am I supposed to talk if you're gonna run this thing in the middle of my talking?" West asked Lauer in reference to the clip.
"It's under, you won't be hearing it," Matt Lauer explained.
West continued, "I am hearing it while I am trying to talk. Please don't let that happen again."
Kanye's mad tweet
Later, Kanye West fired up his Twitter account to address the situation.
"Let me tell you how they did me at the Today show. I went up there to express how I was empathetic to Bush because I labeled him a racist and years later I got labeled as a racist. While I was trying to give the interview they started playing the "MTV" under me with audio!!!!!!! I don't mess with Matt Lauer or the Today Show ... and that's a very nice way for me to put it! HE TRIED TO FORCE MY ANSWERS. IT WAS VERY BRUTAL AND I CAME THERE WITH ONLY POSITIVE INTENT.... I feel very alone very used very tortured very forced very misunderstood very hollow very very misused," West tweeted.
Matt Lauer defended Today's decision to run the MTV clip. "During an interview, when somebody references a place or an event, we run the tape. There was nothing inappropriate about it. We do it all the time," Lauer explained.
Was Kanye West wronged or is it a simple case of TV production standards? Or should we all just move along and claim there's nothing to see here?
