Skating Stars Take The Ice!

As we get closer to crowning a new Dancing With the Stars champion, ABC is getting ready to put a freeze on the dance floor with the announcement of the Skating With the Stars cast that includes Vince Neil and Bethenny Frankel. During the live results show of DWTS that saw Rick Fox sent home, ABC revealed its newest cast for Skating With the Stars.

Bethany Frankel

If you thought seeing your favorite stars fumble around the ballroom floor all in the name of a Disco Ball trophy was entertaining, just wait until they slap on some ice skates and tackle a quad.

On November 22, don't change your dial after watching Dancing With the Stars or you're in jeopardy of missing the biggest train wreck to hit the small screen since Kate Gosselin tackled the paso doble. Skating With the Stars has landed.

Skating with the Stars: The Cast

ABC revealed the stellar and diverse all-star cast during Dancing With the Stars' results show and you might be shocked to see who made the ice.

Bravo star of Bethenny Getting Married? and one-time cast mate on The Real Housewives of New York Bethenny Frankel will put down her Skinny Girl Margarita long enough to lace up some skates and take on gold-medal-winning Olympic skier, Jonny Moseley.

If a housewife and an Olympic champion aren't enough to keep you watching, try indulging in the efforts of soap star Rebecca Budig or Disney-raised actor and entertainer, Brandon Mychal Smith. Film and TV actress Sean Young will try to reign as the queen of the ice -- but don't count out legendary rocker and Motley Crue frontman, Vince Neil.

skating with the stars: The Timing

Dancing With the Stars has become one of the most successful reality shows around, so ABC's decision to bring the icy reality show out of its dusty closet just as the season 11 ballroom competition comes to its end is perfect timing. The concept of Skating With the Stars is similar to Dancing With the Stars with one very different angle, where once there was a ballroom floor there is now an ice rink.

What better way to gain ratings than to force a celebrity to take on a skilled sport that also could lead to another favorite past-time of the American public -- watching people fall on their behinds.

Tune in November 22 for the debut of Skating With the Stars.

Who do you want to see skate circles around the competition?

I don't know why people don't know who the contestants are. I have to admit that some of them aren't my favorites but Rebecca Buddig has been a soap star for awhile now. I am ashamed to say that I don't care for one of the female contestants, who shall go unnamed, & never have. I'll give the show a chance. Maybe it will improve.

Hate the commentator, is he going to comment on every guy on the show? His facial expressions and wide eyes as he speaks is ridiculous. Who is Lori Ann Gibson? I guess Peggy Flemming and Dorthy Hamil were to busy. I hope someone in a position to re-vamp the show will read these comments and do something to improve it or this is the final season for this show.

I just watched 15 minutes of this show which I might add is a take off of the Canadian show..... "BATTLE OF THE BLADES" and personally "Skating with the Stars" just does not do it for me.....I certainly will not watch it again......too not glitter not enough talent....

Use to love Vince Neil, but have now lost all respect for him as a musician. Sell out! I agree with previous post. The cast is crappy, it's stupid, no more reality shows. I'd rather watch "So You Think You Can Dance" which contains real people trying to achieve their dream....not a bunch of washed up has-beens!

I was hoping it would have famous skaters like michele kwan and others ,but i doubt this will be worth watching. The canadian show at least as got famous skaters

They did this a few years back when DWTS was relatively new. I loved it!! Ice skating is very difficult for most people. I think it might do better this time around, but the cast might not call most people's interest.

Thought this had something to dio with famous people?

I can't believe Bethenny wants to do this. This is so cheesy and unnecessary. This show was a flop a few years ago!! Bethenny you are on your way to burn-out!!! Being in the spotlight so much can be harmful to your career and fan base. I suggest you watch your choices and focus on your new marriage, new baby, new TV show and books that is coming up. This should be enough, besides that when you overwhelm yourself with crap like "Skating with the Stars" something goes lacking. No one can maintain this type of schedule and do it all well. So watch out!! All the foolish TV appearances can cost you something that matters. "Just saying"

This is just stupid! NO MORE REALITY SHOWS! Writers are a dime a dozen in Los Angeles, hire a few and create a show worth watching!

Aurora November 03, 2010 | 8:49 AM

Didn't they already do this show here a few years back? I believe Kristy Swanson was on it.

This show has been airing in Canada on CBC for a while now under the name "battle of the blades". At least it pairs figure skaters with notable hockey people and what not... this will fail!

Sandy November 03, 2010 | 6:37 AM

What a crappy cast. I don't even hardly know any of these people. Too bad, I was hoping this would be a more interesting show.
