Baby Is Back
Jennifer Grey's Dancing with the Stars debut performance brought back cherished memories of Dirty Dancing. Is she genuinely honoring Patrick Swayze's memory with her dance, or is she using it as a ploy to get the sympathy vote?
Nobody votes Baby off Dancing with the Stars.
Well, that's what we're hoping after Jennifer Grey's debut performance with Derek Hough on Monday night. Grey channeled her Dirty Dancing past to wow the judges with the Viennese Waltz. Their performance song, "These Arms of Mine," was the same one Baby and Johnny Castle danced to in his room.
Pass the tissues, please.
We loved it, but mostly because it reminded us of simpler times when Patrick Swayze was a young and super hunky Johnny. Admit it: you practiced the infamous final dance with your little brother in your living room. We know we're not the only ones.
The memories weren't lost on Grey, who dedicated her performance to Swayze. Her emotional introduction video was a sad reminder that we'll never have a Dirty Dancing: The Retirement Years.
More tissues, please.
Despite all of the memories and emotion last night brought up, we can't help but wonder about Grey's intentions. Sure, she's a great dancer after all these years, but is she using Swayze's memory as a tool to gain public support? Girlfriend didn't have much of a career after Dirty Dancing and we can't help but wonder if she's using this to pad her bank account and resurrect her career.
Besides, didn't they pretty much hate each other before, during and after filming Dirty Dancing? Sure, death can put things back into perspective, but we still wonder about the motives.
We'll find out tonight if Grey's Dirty Dancing throwback was enough to keep her around for another week.
What do you think about Jennifer Grey's Dancing with the Stars routine?
Do you think she's being genuine, or only playing the sympathy card to get votes?
