Lollapalooza 2010 Rocks On
Lollapalooza 2010 begins in Chicago. The event was created by Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, who conceived and created Lollapalooza back in 1991. Now, Lollapalooza 2010 is back!
Originally, Lollapalooza 2010 creator Perry Farrell intended it to be a farewell tour for his band, but it turned into a rock sensation the "Alternative Nation" flocked to for most of the 1990s. For flannel-loving grunge groupies, early emo fans and alt-rock scenesters, Lollapalooza was the place to crowd surf and mosh. But in 1997, it lost its juice, inspiring Spin Magazine to write, "Lollapalooza is as comatose as alternative rock right now." After a brief revival in 2003, slacking ticket sales forced its cancellation once again in 2004. The next year, Farrell and the William Morris Agency partnered up with Capital Sports Entertainment (now C3 Presents) and retooled it into a weekend destination festival in Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois, where it is expected to run until 2018. This weekend, Lollapalooza (which means an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance) is set to rock Chicago with a lineup that ranges from Lady Gaga to Green Day to Blues Traveler.
