Mexican prosecutors, according to TMZ, have requested an official grant for extradition from the United States.

The prosecutors are asking that Bruce Beresford-Redman -- who has been formally accused of killing his wife -- be extradited from the US to Mexico so he can stand trial for the crime.

The former producer, who is claiming innocence in the death of Monica Burgos Beresford-Redman, is leaving the fate of his extradition in the hands of a US federal judge -- a hearing will be held in the United States to decide if the extradition will stand.

A fight to block the extradition is already being planned by his lawyer, Richard Hirsch.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
