Spears Said No To Telephone
Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s Telephone has become the latest smash for the dance hall divas, but who knew that the song was originally penned for Britney Spears?
Spears' version was leaked online May 4 and SheKnows Entertainment has the demo!
Gaga wrote the track thinking it would be a perfect fit for Spears on her Circus album. Of course, we all know that Spears did not need the hit single as Circus would become a platinum smash without it.
Gaga would go on to record the song alongside Beyonce and score her own hit with her Fame Monster album.
Spears has had no comment on her Telephone demo being leaked. After hearing the elongated Lady Gaga and Beyonce version, Spears' track seems a bit dull in comparison.
But, if you wipe away the memory of what we know about the Gaga version, doesn't Telephone seem like a perfect Britney Spears song?
It makes one wonder why the songstress would pass on such a pulsating dance hall hit.
The entertainment industry is filled with a history of performers passing on work that would become hugely successful for other artists. Most recently, Sandra Bullock's name comes to mind. Both The Blind Side and The Proposal were offered to Julia Roberts, who passed. Bullock scored the highest grossing film of her career with The Proposal and earned an Academy Award for Best Actress in The Blind Side.
Now, back to Britney, what was she thinking? Sure, Circus was filled with hit songs, but as anyone who has tried to achieve the hit song status can tell you, there is no such thing as too many hits.
Spears' fans are not so sure the voice on the track is actually hers, but SheKnows Entertainment has to admit, it sure sounds like Britney.
