Blogger of the Week: Luxury Reading's Vera Pereskokova

SheKnows: Tell us about yourself.

Vera Pereskokova: I'm 26, married, no kids. I work full time and run the blog, and am finishing up a master's degree in health care administration.

SheKnows: Tell us a bit about your blog, Luxury Reading, and why you chose to be a book blogger.

Vera Pereskokova:  I started Luxury Reading because I love reading, but I never had anyone to discuss books with. Blogging has been a great outlet for me to share my reading experiences with others, to converse with authors, publicists and other bloggers. I never realized how big the book blogging world was until I started my own blog, and it's definitely been a very rewarding experience.

SheKnows: What's on your nightstand?

Vera Pereskokova: House Rules by Jodi Picoult, and Palestine Inside Out by Saree Makdisi.

SheKnows: Fav book growing up?

Vera Pereskokova: I was reading more complex books when I was younger than I do now (LOL). I grew up in Republic of Georgia (former Soviet Union), so my favorites when I was 10 to 12 were Anna Karenina, Gone With the Wind, Eugene Onegin, etc. I also had a collection of books about the brave exploits of young Communists during WWII, which I loved.

SheKnows: Your all-time fav author(s)?

Vera Pereskokova: Margaret Mitchell, Tolstoy, Charlotte Bronte

SheKnows: The one book you could read over and over again?

Vera Pereskokova: Gone With the Wind. It's the only book I've ever re-read.

SheKnows: Hardback or paperback?

Vera Pereskokova: Hardback. I love dust covers.

SheKnows: Must-see TV?

Vera Pereskokova: Grey's Anatomy, Glee

SheKnows: Must have beauty product?

Vera Pereskokova: Clinique Loose Powder, Lancome Effacernes Concealer

SheKnows: Fav book turned into a movie?

Vera Pereskokova: Gone With the Wind (once again), The Blind Side

SheKnows: What's in your handbag?

Vera Pereskokova: Oh man, my handbag is a mess! Bills, makeup, cell phone, a book of the moment, GPS (I have no sense of direction), wallet, etc.

SheKnows: Something readers would be surprised to know about you?

Vera Pereskokova: I grew up in a small country that used to be part of the Soviet Union. English is my second language, and I read books in both Russian and English.

SheKnows: Your thoughts on social media and how it helps you as a book blogger?

Vera Pereskokova: It's helpful to spread the word, but at times it can be overwhelming. There are new social media sites popping up every day and not enough hours in the day to keep up with them all. (Follow Luxury Reading on Twitter.)

SheKnows: Must-have tech gadget?

Vera Pereskokova: My Garmin Nuvi GPS.

SheKnows: Fav place to read?

Vera Pereskokova: Well, I brought back a hammock from Mexico, so my new favorite place will be in my backyard, swinging in the hammock.

SheKnows: Dream vacation?

Vera Pereskokova: Maldives.

SheKnows: Describe your blog in three words.

Vera Pereskokova: Insightful, well written, organized.

SheKnows: Your favorite blogs/websites?

Vera Pereskokova: Amazon.com, PaperBackSwap.com and SheKnows.com, which I discovered because of the Book Club and now visit daily.

SheKnows: Your favorite cause?

Vera Pereskokova: PAWS (Public Animal Welfare Society) at www.pawsohio.org.

SheKnows: If you were voted "most likely to___," what would it be?

Vera Pereskokova: "Most likely to know something about any subject."
