Directed by Ron Howard and Funny or Die's Jake Szymanski, the hysterical all-star presidential reunion features veteran Saturday Night Live faves, with one extra funnyman thrown in -- including Fred Armisen as Barack Obama, Maya Rudolph as Michelle Obama, Dana Carvey as George HW Bush, Will Ferrell as George W Bush, Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton, Dan Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter, Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford and Jim Carrey as Ronald Reagan.
Produced by the Main Street Brigade, an organization devoted to creating a financial protection agency for consumers, the sketch does have a definite political angle.
Each of the former presidents calls on Obama to do "better" than they did, which means setting up a Consumer Financial Protection Agency, getting some regulations in place and taking on the banks. Then, Howard's voice over urges us to contact our senators in support.
The sketch couches its message in madcap presidential spoofing, poking fun at everything from Obama's smoking habit to the father-son dynamic between the Bushes. It doesn't hold any punches either, with Clinton eying the first lady while sucking on a cigar and Chase's Ford falling over furniture.
Long time SNL fans may even get a bit teary eyed, remembering when the show itself was actually that funny.
