Taylor Momsen struck back at haters who say she doesn't care about the crisis in Haiti.

The Gossip Girl star managed to repulse millions of people in one fell swoop with a self-absorbed response to the earthquake in Haiti that has left thousands dead and countless more injured, homeless and hungry, without adequate water or medical care.

When asked what she planned to do to help, Momsen replied, "Um, right now I'm trying to just finish my record and get through the last season of Gossip Girl for right now. So not so much thinking about that. But it's awesome that everyone is, you know, working towards a good cause."

The mind boggles.

After incurring the wrath of the interwebs, the teen took to her Twitter with a thoughtful intelligent response to clear the air -- except she's no Einstein, so her plan rather backfired.

Momsen wrote, "I might not gonna attend the Haiti fundraising events, but that doesn't mean I'm not helping the victims! some ppl are just too stupid."

Indeed, darlings, some people are just too stupid...like the author of that Tweet, for example.

So what do you think: Should she get a pass because she's 17 and, by definition, vainglorious? Should she be more caring and thoughtful regardless of her age?

I realize I'm a year too late, but still, I got to say it: I don't really understand all this hysteria and controversy about Momsen's words. You know, I'm not thinking about Haiti either. I don't really give a damn about Haiti. Why should I bother? Haiti is on the other side of the world, and thus, those people are WAY outside my monkeysphere. So why should I care? I understand that Americans could see it differently, considering that Haiti is basically on their backyard. Still - *not caring* for something is our basic human right, and nobody should be publicly ostracized for not caring.

uh, to the dumbass defenders of taylor- she may not have a twitter, but OK! magazine is a MAGAZINE; why would they have video footage of a short interview?? not to mention that both of those points is SO not the issue at hand. taylor said a stupid, insensitive thing and she should apologize and make a public gesture so we know she is sincere about it. otherwise, it just shows her young fans it's ok to be self-absorbed and not care about others in need.

Taylor does not have a twitter dumbass.

As Kim said, that's not her Twitter-because Taylor doesn't have a Twitter account. You could've fact-checked that by calling her publicist or going on to The CW's site, since they have a list of real accounts for their stars. You'll notice Taylor's not on it but she doesn't have an account. Indeed some people are just too stupid...like the author of this post. I hope you'll print a retraction.

It's not her twitter, get your facts straight. Also, if OK Magazine really did catch Taylor saying this then where is the video? Where is the audio clip? All there is, is the word of a tabloid that gets their information wrong all the time.
