Death Cab, Gaga & Leon In Mix
The top 10 songs of 2009 are a varied bunch. From a classic The Black Eyed Peas party anthem, the frivilious joy of LMFAO's La La La and Kings of Leon bringing the rock with Use Somebody, the top 10 songs of 2009 proved one of the most sonically succulent years of the decade.
You Found Me by The Fray
The Fray found their way back onto the charts, completely ignoring the sophmore jinx suffered by many bands upon arrival of their second album. Not so with
The Fray as they announced with their first single,
You Found Me, we are not going anywhere.
An inescapable melody crafted by the boys from Denver strikes a chord in each one of us as one of the band's most personal songs. Given their songbook, that is saying something.
Use Somebody by Kings of Leon
There were few songs in 2009 that captured the nation and the world as the boys from Tennessee did with their Use Somebody.
Use Somebody is one of those tracks that shows no signs of slowing. Think about it: Use Somebody is still in heavy rotation on regular and sateliite
radio, as well as the music video channels. The track debuted in February! In modern pop music, that never happens. Here today, gone tomorrow is usually the case.
Not with Kings of Leon and their anthem which will I'm sure define the band for years to come, use Somebody. Now, one more time (at least!), here is Kings of Leon:
Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
Not much else to say in 2009 about Lady Gaga other than that she ruled. From the first arrival of the last year of the decade to its final
notes December 31 -- 2009 was the year we went Gaga.
I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas
There is no better representation of what this song did to audiences than when The Black Eyed Peas performed I Gotta Feeling as Oprah Winfrey kicked off her 24th season. Watch this
video...one of 2009's don't miss TV moments! Watch Oprah as she cannot believe what the audience has done. It will get you chocked up!
Plus, SheKnows Entertainment has to chime in to the can Fergie sing debate. It is her pipes that make The E.N.D. one of the year's best albums! Just our two cents...
You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift rocked 2009 and no one else came close to the year in music she had. Swift had the classic country crossover success that sent
Shania Twain and Faith Hill to the top of the charts and the public's consciousness.
In 2009, Swift won Grammys, MTV Video Awards (famously, thanks to Kanye West), Country Music Awards and the hearts and minds of millions of fans who cheer her every move.
Up next...three terrific songs that didn't make the cut, the SheKnows honorable mentions:
