We Love To Shiver

I'm not ashamed to admit that the trailer for New Moon gave me goose bumps. Yes, I am an adult. Yes, I am one of the millions of adults who love Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series that was originally targeted to young adults, but embraced by the masses.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater Yes, the Twilight movie made me swoon like a teenager at the mere site of Edward Cullen. And, yes, that scene in the newly released New Moon trailer where Bella screams, "Jacob, run!" and, instead, he leaps forward and transforms into a powerful wolf gave me goose bumps!

Vampires

The thing is, I've been into vampires for a long time. For all you teens out there, dig up an oldie at your local movie store – ask the clerk for The Lost Boys. It's a classic vampire flick you must see -- if you haven't already. And of course there is Interview with a Vampire with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt and based on Anne Rice's vampire novels.

But, hands down, in my opinion The Lost Boys rules -- it did it for me and my high school friends anyway. Many of us can probably still quote lines from the movie.

And now thanks to Stephanie Meyer and her Twilight-induced mania, vampires are back in a big way. PC and Kristin Cast have The House of Night series, which are great. Even the CW has launched The Vampire Diaries TV show. And for the more mature audience, True Blood on HBO is based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlane Harris.

Werewolves

But now, thanks to New Moon hitting theaters soon -- it might be the time of the werewolf. Are you team Edward or team Jacob? I love both and can't wait for New Moon, but right now, I'm team Sam.

Who's Sam, you ask? Well, he's the main character in a great new young adult novel that I think Twilight and paranormal fans will love. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (Scholastic Press, August 2009) is supernatural love story between two teenagers -- Sam and Grace.

Maggie's Shiver has us shivering

Move over Bella & Edward

Sam lives two lives. In the cold of winter, he is a wolf. He belongs to a pack that resides in the woods behind Grace's house. She loves the wolves and has watched them for years. Especially the one with the yellow eyes.

In the summer when the weather warms up enough, Sam is human. Up until now, Sam has never approached Grace when he was human. Shiver is an amazing love story between Grace and Sam as he tries to stay human so he can be near her and she tries desperately to hang on to him.

Pick it up and dive into this paranormal teen romance. Shiver is chilling and it's beautifully written.

And then you tell us: Team Edward, Team Jacob or Team Sam?

i am in LOVE with this book. i got it for christmas and read in like three days. i cried multiple times and i think that proves that the book was good. if it can induce tears, it is beautifully written and can draw you in as a reader, making you think you are really in the characters point of view. in some parts you the emotions portrayed are very intense. like when grace has to shove chase into the bathtub because he is too cold...*shiver*. just thinking about it makes my heart drop into the pit of my stomach and my mind wanders into the state that it goes when im reading... trauma is usually relatable in readers and we can all put ourselves in the characters shoes. if you like this book i seriously reccomend reading beautiful creatures by kami garcia and margaret stohl. this is also an amazing work and though it doesn't involve our beloved werewolves or vampires it might bring another kind of paranormal into the mix.

I'm totally team Sam too, I can't wait for "Linger" to come out.

I think it will really be great to have new to add the Vampires and all the other things going on around us.

I'm team Eric, from True Blood, much better ;P
