Katherine Legally Awarded Custody
The children of Michael Jackson will remain in the custody of grandmother Katherine Jackson, the court has officially decided.
Mere days after Katherine Jackson came to an agreement with Debbie Rowe, the biological mother of two of Michael Jackson's kids, the courts awarded Katherine full legal custody as per the wishes stated in MJ's will. Rowe settled her inquirywith the understanding that she would continue to receive the payout MJ originally agreed to when they settled their own custody dispute -- a reported total of $4 million, paid out over years. The peace treaty between the two women allowed the court to finalize guardianship of Paris, Prince and Blanket who have remained in the care of Katherine since their father's death. A tense and telling moment came during the court proceedings when MJ's dermatologist -- and Rowe's former boss -- attempted to enter objections to the proceedings, citing concerns over the children's education and other day-to-day parenting issues. Dr Arnold Klein has been long suspected of being the biological father of the three children, although he claims as far as he knows he is not. Klein's attorney says he was not acting out of malice towards Katherine but rather "acting on promises he made to Michael with respect to assuring the long term health and stability of the children and their ability to enjoy as normal of a life out of the spotlight as could be reasonably possible." "Dr. Klein has always had a special relationship with Paris Katherine and Prince Michael, loves and cares deeply for these children and is looking out for their best interest." Klein is one of the many doctorswho may have supplied Jackson with full anesthesia for minor procedures. Due to Katherine's age, it is assumed the kids will actually be raised by Michael's older sister Rebbie, who has several children of her own.
