America's Got Talent's Back!
NYC Prep looks to shock tonight on TV while America's Got Talent returns with a new host, Mr. Mariah Carey -- Nick Cannon.
But first, the math equation for the day: Jon minus Kate plus 8 equals what?
Even higher ratings than ever before for Jon and Kate Plus 8, would be my guess. As expected, Jon and Kate announced they were getting a divorce on national TV. Given all of the uproar about their marriage of late, it would have been more surprising had the couple stayed together, going about business as usual as if this was...well...a TV show. I just hope someone really is looking out for the best interest of the kids. On the lighter side, Cake Boss got in trouble with his mama last night when he agreed to make a stripper cake for a bachelorette party. The figures were molded out of modeling chocolate and they were incredible and, shall we say, well endowed. Mama was not happy. The Bachelorette ended with a surprise last night as favorite Jake was left without a rose while sleazy Wes, who admitted to being there purely for the publicity was asked to stay. But don't count Jake out yet. From the previews it appears that he comes back if only to tell Jillian what everyone else already knows about Wes. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? It's nice that he wants to protect her, but knocking down another guy to bolster his own case is kind of nasty, too. What do you think?
The SuperstarsAnyone remember Battle of the Network Stars? The Superstars is kind of like that only not quite as much fun. Each celebrity will be paired with a pro athlete and they'll work as a team to compete in a series of physical challenges. The team with the worst finishing time is eliminated until only one winner is left at the end of the six weeks. The eight athletes are Jennifer Capriati, Brandi Chastain, Robert Horry, Jeff Kent, Kristi Leskinen, Lisa Leslie, Bode Miller and Terrell Owens. The eight celebrities are David Charvet, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Dan Cortese, Paige Hemmis, Julio Iglesias, Jr., Joanna Krupa, Ali Landry and Estella Warren. And if you only recognize a quarter of those names, you're not alone. Watch The Superstars at 8:00 on ABC. And don't miss our interview with Ali Landry later today! America's Got TalentIt's the two-hour season premiere of America's wildest talent show. It's going to be tough to compete with the Susan Boyle hubbub generated by the British version but Piers Morgan says they have a couple of "future legends" in the bunch. In addition to great talent, you'll also be treated to the worst and the weirdest as Piers joins David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne behind the judges' podium and Nick Cannon takes the stage as host. Watch America's Got Talent at 9:00 on ABC.
NYC PrepIf you like Gossip Girl, you'll love NYC Prep, ABC's new reality show that follows six teens from New York's Upper East Side as they deal with the trials and tribulations of the idle rich. Shopping, dating, shopping, drinking, shopping -- school -- but you won't see that on camera since filming inside their ultra elite private schools was forbidden. You could feel sorry for these kids with their lack of parental support, the pressure to get into a great college, living life under a microscope, but chances are, you won't. You'll be appalled by their lack of morals, scruples and how they're wasting a great education, and that's what's going to make this show Bravo's next hit. Watch NYC Prep at 10:00 on Bravo.
