Bristol Palin Joke Too Much
The David Letterman and Sarah Palin feud over his Bristol Palin joke has produced an apology from the late-night host.
In case you missed it, last Monday Letterman wileded a joke centered on a Palin daughter, but assumed the audience would think he was speaking about Bristol. Letterman left out the name of the daughter during the bit about the Palin's daughter having sex with a Yankees baseball player. He indicated to viewers that he never thought it was about anyone other than the 18-year-old Bristol and he even checked to ensure that Bristol was of legal age. Letterman says the joke really can't be defended. Just last week Todd Palin issued a statement saying that "any jokes about raping my fourteen year-old daughter are despicable." Sarah then added that Letterman made perverted comments. Letterman owned up to it last night saying that he apologized for telling the joke and, "It's my fault that it was misunderstood." Dave also apologized to both daughters, the governor and her family and everyone who was outraged by the joke. Letterman adds, "I'm sorry about it and I'll try to do better in the future."
