Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy engaged

Claire Danes and Confessions of a Shopaholic star Hugh Dancy met on the set of the romantic drama Evening in Rhode Island in 2007.

The couple has been dating for about a year. They reportedly started dating as Claire introduced then-boyfriend Billy Crudup to the concept of karma: Crudup had cheated on his then-pregnant girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker with Danes.

Sources say that two months before Danes split with Crudup, she and Dancy shared a bed "with the door two feet ajar, and everybody listening" in his suite at the hotel where the cast of Evening was staying in Rhode Island.

Dancy took his time deciding if Danes was the one for him. The actor was also seen making out with his male screenwriter and the gay hotel manager, who was later canned.

"The cast was pretty much drunk every night," said the source. "Hugh also made out with [screenwriter] Michael Cunningham in the lobby."

It must just be a happy coincidence that the announcement comes merely a few days before Dancy's new flick Confessions of a Shopaholic opens in the US.

Danes and Dancy were most recently spotted at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

In addition to Confessions of a Shopaholic, 33-year-old Dancy recently starred in Sundance favorite Adam, which won the festival's Alfred P Sloan award for a film featuring science or technology.

Look for Danes in the coming-of-age drama Me and Orson Welles, costarring Ben Chaplin and teen idol Zac Efron.
