Grant Show visits Private Practice

Cynthia is at the top of her game as the Television Blogger here at SheKnows. Don't touch that dial!

American Idol last auditions

Private Practice gets a little Melrose love while American Idol closes its audition process.

Lie to Me. That may the name of the new hit show on Fox but it sure doesn't apply at the American Idol auditions.

The American Idol judges spared no one again last night as they told people the truth about their lack of talent. There were two interesting singers late in the episode that had very unusual voices. I can see both of them going a long way, if only they can survive Hollywood week!

Top Chef was more complex than it needed to be last night when the current contestants went head-to-head in a Super Bowl themed episode. In a strange twist of fate, some of the best chefs ended up in the bottom three, Stefan, Fabio (my favorite) and Jeff. Jeff was let go and it was the only choice they could make. The kid gets tangled up in his own talent sometimes and it wasn't likely that he would win. Can Leah go home next, please?

Still have Knight Rider, Law & Order and Fringe from the other day on my DVR! Looks like I've got some catching up to do and I should be able to do it tonight given the sorry state of the evening.

Tonight On TV -- January 29

FOX is likely to take the night again with the final auditions on American Idol and the premiere of Hell's Kitchen.

ABC is mostly reruns tonight with Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and then a new Private Practice that has the adorable Grant Show moving to LA to begin working at Pacific Wellcare.

CBS begins with a repeat of Criminal Minds, then an undercover FBI agent is murdered on CSI, and that's followed by a man with two hearts on Eleventh Hour.

NBC if all reruns, My Name is Earl, Kath & Kim, The Office, 30 Rock, and ER.

The CW starts with a new Smallville and then it's the ultimate horror show on Supernatural as Sam and Dean relive their high school days.

Over on cable

It's kind of quiet out here tonight, the only people making some real noise are the performers on VH1's Super Bowl Bash.

HGTV has a new episode of Property Shop, a show that pulls me in now and again.

HBO has a new episode of Big Love and A&E has The Beast.

News and notable

Lots more Meet the Browns on the way, Variety says TBS ordered 80 more episodes!

NBC has renewed Howie Do It for another twelve episodes. (Sigh)

Marie Osmond will have her own talk show come this fall. It will be based out of Vegas where she is currently performing in a show at The Flamingo.

Fox is planning a Cook Along special with Gordon Ramsay where he will cook a three-course meal right along with the viewing audience. Which won't work for me because I don't have a TV in the kitchen.

Michael Shannon, Oscar nominee for Revolutionary Road has been cast in the period drama Boardwalk Empire.

Casting Call: Animal trainer Zak George is working on a new series for Animal Planet tentatively titled Fetch Me a Beer. They're looking for people who would like to learn how to teach their pets to do tricks. Right now they are casting in South Florida and Boston. Interested parties in South Florida can send submissions to: dogtricksFlorida@powderhouse.net or for Boston related inquiries email dogtricks@powderhouse.net. (Source: Cynopsis)
