The reality TV couple is on the cover of this week's Us Magazine with the headline that they eloped this past week. As The Hills winds down another season, this is exactly the shot in the arm of publicity the show needs to carry it through the finale.
But, is the news of Montag nuptials true?
The magazine has photos of The Hills couple in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on November 20 at a in a church in what appears to be a ceremony. Whether the marriage is legal is up for argument because in Mexico, like the U.S., a license is required to legalize a union.
The couple's publicist, Rick Rhodes, released a statement that seemed to quell the rumors.
"I'm not privy to any of that information," Rhodes says. "If there was a wedding I wasn't invited ... Sorry!"
MTV was also caught off guard by the story and is embracing it thus far. If they filmed the ceremony, they're not saying except the following release:
"MTV wishes Heidi and Spencer the best and can't wait to share their special moment with 'The Hills' fans later this season."
