Fan found dead near Paula Abdul home

The individual was a long-time fan of Abdul's who failed an audition in season five of American Idol. Paula Goodspeed was found dead in a car near the singer's home.

Early indications are that Goodspeed had committed suicide. The license plate on the car read: "ABL LV."

Officers were responding to a distress call in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles where the body of Goodspeed was discovered.

Abdul, through her publicist, issued a statement about the ordeal:

"I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to her family," says Abdul through her publicist, Jeff Ballard.

There is no indications that Abdul knew that the individual was near her home or doing anything inside of her car. Simon Cowell was widely criticized when during Goodspeed's audition, he pointed out her braces as if they were a flaw.
