The Grammy-winning Canadian singer married Demacio Castellon on July 19. Furtado's new husband is a sound engineer who worked on her last album.
"I love it," Furtado told Entertainment Tonight Canada.
"I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out. I'm happy... I'm excited about the future."
The 29-year-old songstress won a Grammy for best female pop vocal performance with her 2000 debut album, "Whoa, Nelly." Her 2003 acoustic follow-up, "Folklore," was less successful, but Furtado charted again with singles off her most recent album, 2006's "Loose."
She has a four-year-old daughter, Nevis, from a previous relationship.
