Madonna Divorced!

After months of rumors, and denials, entertainment super-couple Madonna and Guy Ritchie are formally splitting. They're getting divorced.

In happier times...last week! Individual representatives for the pair said in a joint statement, "Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage.

They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time. A final settlement has not been agreed upon yet."

"It is sad," is the only thing Madonna's longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg had to say. Rosenberg was in charge of issuing denial after denial of the couple's impending split and Madonna's alleged dalliance with baseball player Alex Rodriguez over the summer.

In question is the couple's vast fortune, worth a reported $535 million. The bulk of that was earned by Madonna. Ritchie is worth a reported $35 million.

However, since the couple has three children and no prenup, the director could wind up with a settlement of as much as $100 million.

The couple married in a lavish ceremony at a Scottish castle in 2000. They have three children.
