When a beloved television show bids its farewell, there are mixed emotions. Often the creators produce a series finale that gets it right. But that's not always the case. Here are the top 10 hit shows that left audiences scratching their heads (if not swearing off TV forevermore).

7. Alias

After all of that adventure, you're going to kill off the people who produced Sydney after years of compelling drama and a sexy outfit or two?! Shame on you!

There is no way Victor Garber's character would perish -- no way! After years of smart writing, smarter acting and a plot that mirrored today's terrorist-laden society before it became reality, showed the ultimate cost of the battle for freedom. But for the millions of fans, the finale read more like a show that was annoyed to be forced off the air by ABC. Its star -- Jennifer Garner -- was also becoming too huge to keep an "Alias."

Say goodnight, Sydney

You know, this was an ending I actually liked.

Married...With Children was the worst because the series finale, wasnt even a ing series finale, it was cancelled unexpectedly without any proper ending, the episode was fine but come on one of the greatest sitcoms of all time gets NO ING FINALE?!?!?

Seriously. Seinfeld deserves the #1 spot. I watched it and I went, WTF?? =| But another horrible TV show ending was ALF!

You want a bad ending? the "Dallas" finale. It knocks everything else off that list, with the exception of St elsewhere.

I thought the final show for Roseanne was amazing, so unexpected and the family never won the million dollars, that was made up as part of her book

I never understood why everybody thought the MASH finale was so great. What an overrated piece of dreck. Of course, by that point it had become The Alan Alda Show and should have been gone a couple years earlier.

You know, it's hard to take your opinions seriously when you can't even understand the ROSEANNE finale.

"Everything’s just the same, like every other day -- guys hanging around getting drunk and the women who put up with them. Sorry, we just don’t buy it." I don't know who "we" is in this case but that's how life works for most of us.

Roseanne isn't right - we didn't find out that the entire series had been a book. She showed she had started writing after Dan's death to try and pretend he was alive for awhile and writing how she had wished things had worked out, rather than how the ended up. Also, it was shown they never won the lottery at all, and that was part of the book of the final season, a distraction used to avoid the pain of his death.

I was inspired to look for this after having the misfortune to re-view the Roseanne finale, which probably should be tied for #1. I agreed with all of them except Cheers - I liked the fact that everything wasn't tied up with a neat little bow and that we could feel like the bar was still going on.

Really? M*A*S*H didn't make the list? And Seinfeld was underwhelming, perhaps, but I don't know if it was the "worst of the worst" I think ST ELSEWHERE might have to take that since it's so legendary. And also, where's the incomplete cast Home Improvement ending? The too little, too late" ending of Happy Days? Or the accidental endings of Gilligan's Island or Quantum Leap? I find myself at the end of this list as unsatisfying as the subject matter. :)

I want to know THE UNIT was canceled. That was good show. I guess it was to patriotic.

The Sopranos and Friends series finales were the worst ones on tv. The Sopranos would have fared well had Tony been gathering around his mob buddies saying I am done with this life and went into witness protection.

I would have had The Sopranos higher, that ending was SO frustrating
