Sweet Home Alabama Wedding

Season Two American Idol winner Ruben Studdard married girlfriend Surata Zuri McCants in Birmingham, AL Saturday.

Singing to his sweetie? Ruben Studdard, affectionately known as the Velvet Teddy Bear, and his bride were wed at the Canterbury United Methodist Church in a ceremony marked with prayers and a string quartet, but there would be no serenade by Ruben Studdard.

The bride wore a strapless ivory and white floor length ball gown, and the groom donned white tie formal wear.

The couple met cute:

Surata attended one of Ruben's Wal-Mart CD signings back in 2006. Ruben later said he was struck by her beauty and tracked her down in the store's toy department to ask for her number.

The rest, as they say, is history.
