For over a century, movie moms have run the gamut. From overbearing, Psycho, to the endearing, Terms of Endearment, the maternal influence on motion pictures is unparalleled in its ability to produce deeply fascinating characters.

6. Freaky Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis
There is the '70s version with Jodie Foster, and it is fantastic, but for pure mother and daughter flip-flops, nothing tops this 2003 remake. Jamie Lee Curtis (daughter of another Top 10 movie mom, Janet Leigh) switching places with a pre-rehab Lindsay Lohan is a triumph for both actresses in the way they managed to get into each other's minds.
The pair captured what makes the Freaky Friday story work -- the unique bond between mother and teenage daughter.
What is not to love about a mom strapping on a guitar and finishing out her daughter's music set for the opportunity of a lifetime. Watching Jamie Lee's face as she plays that guitar is the actress' finest moment. No disrespect to that Halloween movie she made.
