When a 3D movie tops the box office, is it safe to say the format is back?
Not so much when the subject of the 3D film in question is Miley Cyrus.
Defying expectations, Cyrus' concert film topped the box office charts over the weekend with a $29 million payday besting films by such Hollywood heavies as Jessica Alba and Katherine Heigl. Cyrus' "Best of Both Worlds" concert film follows the split personality the star has been managing to astounding success. Trying to get her audience to recognize her as Miley Cyrus has certainly not been a problem as the singer's face is everywhere lately. The number two film for the week was Alba's "The Eye," taking in $13 million with Heigl's "27 Dresses" giving women something to do other than the Super Bowl while adding another $8.4 million to its $57 million total. Last week's number one, "Meet the Spartans," dropped heavily landing in fifth with everyone's favorite little movie that could, "Juno" continuing its Hollywood-story run and another $7.5 million for the baby. The box office top ten: 1. Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, $29 million |
