Britney's father granted control of her affairs

Jamie's eyes teared when he was informed of the court's decision. Although it is a positive step in the downward spiral of Britney's life, the court only makes such awards of control in matters where the individual "cannot care for themselves or handle their affairs."

This is not permanent, but as the singer is getting much-needed treatment at the UCLA medical center, it appears that news should be, at least for now, be improving for the singer. Her father only has this conservatorship until a Monday hearing will determine if it is still needed and if so, for how long.

One fantastic sign is how the court granted Jamie's request for a restraining order against Britney's "manager" and sometimes friend Sam Lufti. Now that the controlling Lufti is out of her life, perhaps the people who helped her achieve her fame in the first place, her family, can rise above their petty squabbes to come to the rescue of a daughter drowning in pain.

The ruling also allows Jamie to control who is around Britney. Adding his own security team for her is, at least in theory, supposed to aid in controlling those (see Lufti, photog ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib, and honestly Kevin Federline while they were married) who aim to exploit her and bring her to the brink of insanity.
