Because, as we all know, it's not true until the words are uttered on national TV: Jodie Foster is gay.
This week, the two-time Oscar-winning actress received the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, and in her acceptance speech, thanked her longtime partner Cydney Bernard, calling her, "... my beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss."
Of course, this statement hardly comes as a surprise to insiders and/or anyone else who follows the Hollywood scene. Jodie has attended many industry events over the years with her love by her side, the two have been spotted shopping together, and both of Foster's sons have Cydney's last name -- Bernard -- as their middle name.
Ultimately, let's hope this acknowledgement doesn't matter to anyone but Jodie's friends and family! She's the same person she has been for years, and still has the power to play any role she wants. Even if that means -- gasp! -- playing a rape victim or somebody's wife.
