Sports movie focuses on football team and an unlikely star.
Disney sure knows how to put together true-life sports movies. The mouse house, who created Dennis Quaid's The Rookie and Kurt Russell's Miracle, has done it again with Invincible set to open in the top spot at the box office this past weekend. The story of Vice Papale, a bartender/substitute teacher from Philadelphia who answers the NFL Eagle's open tryout call stars Mark Wahlberg as Papale. The walk-on makes the team and soars into the hearts of sports-crazy Philadelphians forever. Studios are estimating the movie
s first weekend take at just over $17 million, which places it at number one. The closest rival was the season's biggest disappointment, Snakes on a Plane, which scared up another $6.4 million - a 58 percent freefall - to bring its lower-than-expected total to $26 million. Looks like America is ready for some football.
