I have learned to take The Bachelor teaser trailers with a healthy dose of skepticism.
And the new trailer for Nick Viall's finale this Monday is promising an After the Final Rose live television event that will feature a first in the history of the show.
That could mean that things between Nick Viall and his lady have already soured. It could be that Viall will get his heart broken yet again, but this time on live television and after getting engaged. It could also be that Viall and his final lady will take the show up on their offer to Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell last year and get married right there and then on the special.
I'm guessing, if anything, it's going to be the latter. The show wouldn't really be able to anticipate a blowout fight, but they could anticipate a wedding event.
Of course, the promo is set up to make it sound as dramatic as possible, but they did the same thing during Season 20, which was Higgins' season as the Bachelor. Do you remember those promos that had him crying and looking devastated? It seemed like Higgins was going to fall to his knees simply because he was crumbling under the pressure rather than proposing. Then, we all watched the episode and it was a totally stereotypical Bachelor happily ever after for Higgins and Bushnell.
I'm onto you ABC!
Viall's finale promo is following an almost identical format.
Viall's After the Final Rose special surprise probably won't be that much of a surprise, I hate to say. I won't be holding my breath.
Of course, I'm a glutton for some good drama (why do you think I watch The Bachelor in the first place?), so I'll never completely stop holding out hope that the After the Final Rose special will have something juicy in store. But, come on, you can only pull a Jason Mesnick so many times in Bachelor history.
