Herieth Paul's dreams came true when she walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, but there's much more to her

From SheKnows Canada

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is one of the most prestigious modelling events in the world, and this year's show in Paris was filled with the usual famous faces like Kendall Jenner and Bella and Gigi Hadid. However, they were joined by some lesser-known models, like the beautiful and very talented Herieth Paul.

Below are seven things you need to know about Canada's very own Victoria's Secret beauty.

1. She was born in Tanzania

Paul has been living in Canada (Ottawa to be precise) since the age of 11, but she was born in Tanzania and is very proud of her roots.

2. Victoria's Secret was a dream come true

For many models, being given the chance to walk the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is a dream come true. Paul reflected on this in an Instagram post. She shared a photo of herself on the runway along with the caption, "AFTER THE FIRST SHOW, I couldn't hold back tears!! Forever grateful. Thank you everyone."

3. She started modeling six years ago

You don't just become a Victoria's Secret model overnight. Paul has been modelling for six years (and she's still only 20) starting her career with Canadian-based agency Angie's Models. The owner of the agency, Angie Seymour, told CTV Ottawa how proud she was of Paul's achievements. "She killed it. She ate up all the energy and she just soared," Seymour gushed.

4. Victoria's Secret is not her first major break

Paul has been on the modelling scene for a while and has represented cosmetic giant Maybelline as their New York brand ambassador. She made her debut at Christian Siriano's spring show in September of 2010.

5. She wants to build a school

Paul is so much more than just a pretty face. During an interview with Glamour magazine earlier this year, she revealed her dreams to open a school to help children with disabilities. "I went to school with kids who were blind and deaf, and we were all in one class. There wasn't a different class or teacher for them, so they didn't learn anything. I'm hoping to organise a school to train teachers to help children with disabilities," she said. "It's my future goal. I want to move back to Tanzania and do that eventually."

6. Her willingness to help comes from her mom

Paul's mom is an inspiration when it comes to her philanthropic work. She has run an orphanage for years and has helped many girls to further their education. In fact, she told Glamour magazine that a percentage of Paul's income is given to these girls to help with their schooling.

7. She wanted to be an actress

Although Paul is now a very successful model, she actually wanted to be an actress. She revealed during an interview with PopSugar that her career started when she attended an audition in Canada (six years ago), and while she initially told them she wanted to be an actress, they told her the modeling world would suit her better.
