Back in June, Vanessa Hudgens made headlines for appropriating Native American culture because she wore dream catchers in her hair — she is, however, of Native American descent (her late father was of Native American ancestry). Although, whether her ancestry makes it appropriate for her to wear dream catchers as accessories remains debatable. Hudgens has also sparked backlash for her use of religious symbols in the past (like wearing the bindi, a symbol of Hinduism) and on Sunday, Oct. 23, she once again made headlines, this time for wearing braids.
Hudgens took to Snapchat to share a series of photos of her new look: box braids.

Twitter users were incredibly unimpressed and have shared their disdain for Hudgens, even referring to her as the "queen of cultural appropriation."

Yep, it's clear that Hudgens has offended many people.
my fav examples of yall never calling out vanessa hudgens for cultural appropriation & instead praising her as "queen of Coachella" pic.twitter.com/QIPE236C2Q— hailoween (@hailleujah) October 24, 2016
But not everyone has lost faith in Hudgens, as many people tweeted in her defense, claiming that people are too quick to accuse others of cultural appropriation.
can y'all leave vanessa hudgens alone that girl doesn't hurt anybody— foreverboy (@hatecorey) October 24, 2016
