We're big fans of Calvin Harris and Rihanna's hit track "This Is What You Came For," and on Sunday night at the 2016 MTV VMAs, Harris was very excited to take home the Best Male Video award for the track.
Harris was unable to attend the award ceremony, which was held at Madison Square Garden, but he made a very special video to thank all those he thought deserved a mention for making the track the hit that it is. Those he thanked included Rihanna (who he referred to as a "superstar"), Emil Nava, who directed the video, as well as MTV and "everybody who's supported this song, who's watched this video." There's only one problem: He didn't thank Taylor Swift.
As previously reported, Swift secretly wrote the lyrics and sang backup vocals on the song. And while it's no secret that there's been no love lost between Swift and Harris since their breakup, some fans expected the DJ to at least thank her during his speech — and they took to Instagram to share their thoughts about his actions.
Harris uploaded a screen shot of his acceptance speech, which he captioned with a simple message: "Thanks MTV!" But fans are wondering why he chose to leave Swift out of his speech.
Comments include one from kiriamarika, who wrote, "@calvinharris Congrats and well deserved but maybe a nod to the songwriter as well would have been the gracious thing to do. Otherwise, enjoy the win."
Jazzzzules shared similar sentiments, writing, "Congrats but I really thought you had more class to shout out to the writer."
