Just because Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga broke up doesn't mean they have to be miserable

Can we all calm down about the fact that Taylor Kinney is smiling in a picture on Twitter?

Just after news broke that Kinney and his longtime love/fiancée, Lady Gaga, called off their relationship, the internet lost its shit over a photo that Kinney's Chicago Fire co-star, Kara Killmer, posted on the social media site. Why? Because Kinney had the audacity to smile, of all things — now, when his face should be a perpetual storm cloud, you guys.

News flash: Sometimes, when you point a camera at a person, they smile. I know, I know. Weird.

Anyway, despite whatever conclusions we all decide to draw from Kinney and Gaga's facial expressions, they may end up getting back together. Gaga posted a photo on Instagram of her and Kinney (faces pointed away from the camera so we don't have to analyze them, thank God), along with a caption that seemed hopeful for the pair.

"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared,” she wrote alongside the photo. “Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."

Sources close to the couple say distance had a lot to do with their decision to split — Kinney is living in Chicago to film his series, while Gaga is busy with her own career in Los Angeles.

"They had a good life and a lot in common but were ultimately too different. I know he was always in Chicago and she went there all the time but really had to be in L.A. or on tour, and it was hard for them to make their schedules work," one insider explained. "Distance was definitely a big, big issue."
