Nyle DiMarco's attitude is getting on some nerves.
During Monday's episode of Dancing with the Stars, DiMarco claimed that he didn't think his fellow celeb dancers were serious competition, and that his biggest threat was actually dance pro Val Chmerkovskiy. Though DiMarco has been consistently near the top with his performances on the show, his newfound arrogance rubbed some people the wrong way, including judge Len Goodman.
DiMarco and his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, danced the quickstep this week to "Hey Pachuco!" from the Jim Carrey movie The Mask, and DiMarco channeled Carrey in a yellow suit and green mask during the dance.
For the most part, as usual, the judges loved DiMarco's performance. Bruno Tonioli commented that he loved the "crazy, kooky energy," and Carrie Ann Inaba said she loved it, even though DiMarco's frame was "a little broken."
But Goodman, though he conceded that the "performance was terrific," decided to put DiMarco and his overconfidence in his place.
"You're a good dancer, but don't start saying you're as good as Val because you'll just annoy people," Goodman chastised DiMarco.
But as media outlets ran with the story that DiMarco was arrogant and annoyingly overconfident, it became apparent that some people weren't put off at all by his comment: his fans. The took to Twitter in droves in defense of DiMarco's remarks, slamming Goodman for being too harsh.
"How is @NyleDiMarco saying he thinks he can be as good as Val annoying??? Nyle is amazing!
#DWTS don't be jealous, Len," one fan tweeted. Another replied with, "@NyleDiMarco you keep doing your thing your amazing man."
