Jill (Duggar) Dillard's creative way of celebrating baby Israel's first birthday is the kind of family tradition we can all get behind.

In photos posted to her Instagram account, Jill revealed that the first birthday candle used on Israel's cake was the same one that was used on dad Derick's cake when he turned 1. So cute!

Jill shared the snap on Sunday, after the little family celebrated Israel's birthday last Wednesday in Central America, where they're currently working as missionaries.

Jill wrote, "Happy belated birthday to our sweet Israel! (We did not have wifi [sic] on his birthday.)" She also revealed that Derick's mom, Cathy Dillard, joined them in Central America to celebrate little Israel's big milestone, and she's the one who brought the family birthday candle.

"We loved having Grandma C here for Israel's birthday. She even brought Derick's first birthday candle for Israel to use!" Jill wrote.

The proud parents also took to their website to write a sweet birthday letter to Israel.

"Israel, it's hard to believe you are already a year old! On Sunday you got to try cake and ice cream for the first time with a bunch of your friends watching you (you smeared it all over your legs! lol)," they wrote. "You are a handsome little fella, and here in Central America you stand out a little with your blonde [sic] hair and blue eyes."

The letter revealed Israel had a birthday party at the family's church, complete with a piñata, and continued, "Israel, momma and papa love you so much and pray your first birthday is just the beginning of many more happy ones to come! XOXOXO."
