Royal Pains' final season: Will Hank walk away from HankMed for good?

Ever since Allyson Koerner can remember, she's been in a committed relationship — with the entertainment and TV world, that is. After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and journalism, respectively, she's been living...

In early March, it was announced that Royal Pains would come to an end after Season 8. Now, fans are getting a glimpse at what's to come from the final season, thanks to a teaser shared by E! Online. As I'm sure viewers can imagine, there will be a lot of hugging and tears between the characters and cast members.

You know what else? It also seems that Hank just might be walking away from the medical concierge business that made him a home in The Hamptons. In the funny, yet somewhat heartbreaking video featuring the song "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams, Hank says to his brother and business partner, Evan, "It's time to put HankMed to bed."

What does this mean? Does this mean HankMed is closing its doors permanently? Does it mean Hank will leave HankMed to Divya, Evan and Jeremiah? Will the series finale show Hank going off to find himself outside of HankMed? Or does it mean nothing at all?

I can't imagine Evan giving up HankMed. I mean, it's basically his baby. Plus, he and Paige have made a home for themselves in The Hamptons and are thinking about starting a family. So, it wouldn't make sense for Evan to find a new career right now. So, I don't think it means HankMed is done for good.

If I had to take a guess, I have a feeling Hank will realize he needs to walk away from HankMed (maybe not forever, but for at least right now). As showcased in Season 7, Hank began to question who he is at this point in his life, especially when it came to his personal life. It's also been teased that Season 8 will revolve around Hank questioning whether there is an equal level of fulfillment when it comes to both his professional and personal life. I think it's pretty clear that he needs more than just HankMed to live a happy and full life.

Furthermore, Jill Flint is returning as Hank's past love Jill, which just might mean Hank and Jill will walk into the sunset together. I don't think fans would argue with that because it's about time these two end up together.

Whatever Hank ends up deciding, let's just hope he finds his happy ending.

Royal Pains returns with its final season Wednesday, May 18, at 10/9c on USA.
