Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's relationship is having unexpected perks for the contestants on The Voice, including a mentorship from Gwen Stefani. Of course, that also means a front-row seat to the relationship of the year. Sure, it's a show about singing, but it's hard not to focus on the couple's chemistry when Shelton introduced this season's contestants to "the great Gwen Stefani."
"Blake wanted to bring in an expert to help you guys, so he called me," said Stefani. "A country music expert," Shelton joked, alluding to the fact that it's a bit of a stretch to have Stefani coaching his contestants. (But hey, ratings are important.)
Stefani defended her knowledge of country. "I'm getting there, though! I loved working outside of my lane." Shelton joked about the real reason she's there; "Also, she's hot." [Awkward laughter ensues.]
For their part, contestants Jared Harder and Adam Wakefield seem excited to work with "powerhouse" Stefani despite her lack of country music experience.
Shelton and Stefani have made quite the powerhouse team themselves lately. Shelton is motivating the masses to buy Stefani's new album This Is What the Truth Looks Like, while Stefani gave a not-so-subtle shoutout to Shelton in the music video for her single "Make Me Like You." Who says couples shouldn't work together?
