If you're a Royal Pains fan, here is some sad news. When the series returns in May with an eight-episode Season 8, it will be its final season, USA Network announced Thursday. There's no doubt that Hank, Evan, Divya and everyone else who's shown up in the Hamptons have had quite the successful run.
The network also revealed where Season 8 will find Hank and Evan. It seems Hank will be facing if he is as happy personally as he is professionally, while Evan and Paige will be looking into what family means to them. Also, for those hoping for the return of Raj, General Collins and even Jill (yes, Jill!), you're in luck, because they will also make appearances. Oh, how can I forget to mention that one episode was shot in Hong Kong and there will be a musical number with Christine Ebersole and Cloris Leachman.
It sure sounds like a pretty busy season, but here's what I'm hoping to see during Royal Pains' final run.
1. A Hank and Jill reunion
It's about time, right? These two are meant to be, so they had better reunite — permanently. Maybe the reason Hank hasn't been fulfilled personally and romantically is because he's not with the right person, aka Jill.
Evan and Paige almost adopted in Season 7, but that fell through. It's clear they are ready, able and willing to start a family. Here's hoping they become the parents they dream to be. Plus, who doesn't want to see Evan as a dad? Most. Fun. Dad. Ever.
At the end of Season 7, Divya and Raj finally got engaged. Can you believe it took seven seasons, a broken arranged marriage and a lot of drama in between for these two to realize they actually want to be together? They definitely deserve a magnificent wedding and marriage.
For seven seasons, Divya has been a very successful physician's assistant. That said, in Season 7, she came to the realization she wanted to extend her medical knowledge by becoming a doctor. If anyone deserves to be called Dr. Katdare, it's Divya.
5. An even more promising HankMed future
There's no doubt HankMed has grown exponentially since the beginning of the series, so let's hope Hank, Evan and Divya keep up the good work. I don't know what the Hamptons would do without such a fantastic concierge medical business.
You can't have a final season without at least one scene or episode featuring Hank, Evan and their father, Eddie (played by Henry Winkler). Also, let's hope that bond between Evan and Hank remains as tight as ever. Not only have they become even closer brothers since Season 1, but they have even become best friends.
Divya and Jeremiah's friendship is something I've adored ever since Ben Shenkman came onto Royal Pains. They've established an everlasting bond that will hopefully remain intact after Divya and Raj get married. Knowing Divya, she most definitely will keep Jeremiah in her life and vice versa.
8. A happy ending overall
Whenever a series ends, don't you just want a happy ending? Well, at least for a dramedy like Royal Pains. Hank, Evan and Divya have definitely had their ups and downs, so if anyone deserves a lot of happiness, it's these three.
Those are just a few of my hopes and dreams for the final season. Now, I'll just have to try and wait patiently until Royal Pains returns for its final season on Wednesday, May 18 at 10/9c on USA.
