Adele is much more than just a talented performer with a great pair of lungs. She's also an influential woman with a massive heart and on Tuesday she made a young fan's dreams come true.
Emily Tammam, 12, attended Adele's concert at the Manchester Arena holding up a banner that said, "it's my dream to sing with Adele" — and because Adele is awesome that dream became a reality when the singer invited her on stage to sing "Someone Like You."
Emily had her night made by Adele and videos of the special performance have been uploaded by fans to Twitter.
They show the young girl — who, according to the Irish Examiner, has autism and ADHD as well as the connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome — bravely standing in the centre of the stage with a microphone in hand, as she belts out the lyrics to her idol's track. Adele then joins in for the chorus.
Emily's father, Ray Tammam, has been touched by Adele's generous action and took to Twitter to post a sweet thank you to the singer.
He also spoke about his daughter's excitement during an interview with the Manchester Evening News saying, "Adele is her favourite singer. Luckily we were very close to the small stage in the middle — we were sat right next to the stage.
"She had a sign saying: 'It is my dream to sing with Adele' which she held up. Right at the end at the second to last song of the night she [Adele] was reading out one or two of the signs.
"She turned around and Emily put the lights on her sign, Adele saw it and said 'OK come on the stage'."
Ray added that his daughter loves singing, that Adele is her absolute favourite star and "Someone Like You" also happens to be her favourite song. But the moment was made even more special because Emily often struggles in social situations.
Ray said, "She has a constant struggle with social situations, but amazingly she manages to sing in public. She has a different persona when she is on stage.
"Adele was very nice to do that, she clearly didn't have to do it. Emily said she wants to show people that have disabilities or mental issues they can still do mainstream things like singing they should not be stopped from doing them. [sic]"
We agree. Not only has Adele given us yet another reason to love her, this story is also proof that with determination and passion you can do whatever your heart desires.
