We've seen the girls from Dance Moms in all kinds of costumes, and now, we've seen all of the adults in their pajamas. Tonight's wardrobe change from the mothers was intentional, but their efforts to teach Abby Lee Miller a lesson may have unintentionally backfired.
Abby Lee Miller's behavior has been increasingly erratic as of late, and the moms are clearly not happy about it. During tonight's episode of Dance Moms, they decided to give the famous dance teacher a taste of her own medicine. Unfortunately, their efforts resulted in a wasted day for their daughters. A mere hour of missed practice can be disastrous for these girls, so of course, a full day is a big deal.
The one good thing about this week's drama is that viewers got to see the moms in pajamas. Jill Vertes even had her hair in braids! That moment of amusement, however, gave way to disappointment when viewers realized that the moms had proven that they're no better than the woman they spend so much time mocking.
Ashlee Allen — usually one of the least likable of the moms — said it best when she complained, "We already have one Abby; we don't need four." Allen makes a great point: It's bad enough that Miller is constantly letting the girls down. The last thing they need is for their mothers to also show that they don't care. Yes, the intent was to give Miller a taste of her own medicine, but in doing so, the moms shifted their priority from their daughters' dance education to petty revenge. If the moms really have a problem with Miller's behavior, they should switch dance studios and find a better teacher for their daughters.
Although viewers don't have a lot of sympathy for Miller, they didn't like seeing the moms stooping to her level. Several referred to the mothers' behavior as petty and disappointing.
It doesn't matter what you've done for 5 years Melissa. YOU made the decision not to show up. These moms are so petty and jealous #DanceMoms— Bridget Dease (@Bridget_Dease) March 9, 2016
The moms are SOOOOOOOO PETTY. I get why they showed up late, but this is your fault ladies...leave Brynn and her mom alone. #DanceMoms— Tceternity (@DanceVogueKidd) March 9, 2016
Miller was, as expected, just as displeased as the mothers. Although she initially played it all off as an excuse to focus more on Brynn Rumfallo, she later voiced her annoyance on Twitter.
The moms think they're so funny. I do not. #DanceMoms— Abby Lee Miller (@Abby_Lee_Miller) March 9, 2016
Despite what Miller claims, seeing the moms dressed up like their daughters' lackadaisical teacher was actually pretty funny. However, it was also incredibly petty and irresponsible. Not only did they force their kids to miss out on a day of dance practice, they set a terrible example. There are so many better ways to respond to poor behavior from a teacher.
