Mariah Carey is good at many, many things, but letting go of a grudge is not one of them.
Carey's shade toward fellow songstress Jennifer Lopez is legendary — Carey famously said "I don't know her" when asked about Lopez at the height of her pop music career over a decade ago — and now, all these years later, it definitely has not faded.
The subject came up again when Lopez was asked about the infamous feud during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show last week.
"She's forgetful, I guess!" Lopez said. "We've met many times. I don't know... I don't know her that well."
This is a major change from the story she told Andy Cohen just two years ago, when she said the two have never crossed paths. "I know from back in the day, I've read things that she's said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don't know each other. I think it's kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I'm not really aware of."
But when Carey was confronted by TMZ about Lopez's recent claim that the pair is pretty well acquainted, Carey totally reignited the feud, and it is glorious.
"I still don't know her," she said.
What on earth is this grudge about? Carey is the only person who knows for sure, but Instagram user davidthemoore has a theory. "Jennifer is a thief... the track 'Loverboy' was subject to controversy when JLO and [Carey's ex-husband] Tommy Mattola STOLE the idea of sampling that Mariah original planned sample (sic). Over a month after Mariah Carey originally signed for it."
Your move, JLo!
