Jess' official return to Gilmore Girls could mean bad news for Dean fans

Ever since Allyson Koerner can remember, she's been in a committed relationship — with the entertainment and TV world, that is. After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and journalism, respectively, she's been living...

Another one of Rory's former loves joins the Gilmore Girls revival — what does it mean for her other exes?

Finally! He's back. On Wednesday, Milo Ventimiglia officially confirmed via Twitter that he is returning to Gilmore Girls as Jess Mariano. That's right, another one of Rory's former flames is coming back to Stars Hollow. According to TV Line, it remains unclear how many episodes Jess will be featured in out of the four 90-minute episodes greenlit by Netflix.

It appears Ventimiglia is ready to reprise his role. Alongside a photo of the Gilmore Girls revival script, he wrote, "What a great time to get back on set with some friends. #JessIsBack" Yes, he is. Yes, he is.

So, what does this mean for Rory and her other exes? As previously reported, Matt Czuchry is returning as Logan Huntzberger, which means Rory could end up with either Logan or Jess. However, when the series returns, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino teased to TV Line that Rory is "single in the sense that she’s not married. But she’s dating like any young woman with that face would be." Really, Rory could end up with anyone at this point.

Does that mean Rory might even fall back in love with her first boyfriend Dean, played by Jared Padalecki? As of right now, nothing has been announced either way about Dean's fate. That said, based on what Sherman-Palladino told TV Line, he might not even return at all.

"Our plan is to get as many of the lovely men back as possible," Sherman-Palladino said. "We’ve also had certain storylines we had to [tweak] because, apparently, there are still budgetary restrictions in Hollywood. I don’t understand that. I sort of feel like, 'This is the story I want to tell, and somebody should just pay for it.'" She then added, "Apparently, it doesn’t work like that. Very irritating. So, certain storylines — one of which involved one of the boys — had been taken out of our hands. We’re still dealing with who’s going to be in it. We definitely want to see them. And we have storylines planned. I just need someone to tell me they’re going to show up."

Hmm... that sounds like one of the boys won't be part of the revival, right? Seeing as both Logan and Jess are back, does that mean Dean is the one getting cut? If that definitely is the case, that is a bummer, especially for Dean fans. Basically, Rory and Dean shippers' hearts will be break if they don't see the two reunite.

Nothing is official, so Dean could easily show up in Stars Hollow. If not, at least Gilmore Girls fans will see Jess and Logan, right?
