Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi were sick of the questions about when they're going to have a kid.
In typical DeGeneres form, the comedian turned what could have been an uncomfortable situation into a joke. She made an announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show — she and De Rossi have adopted a 9-week-old puppy. The best part? They named the new pup Kid. Congrats to the new mommies!
"I have not talked about this yet, but we have a new puppy. Portia and I got a puppy, and his name is Kid, so now we have a kid. Yep. I mean, he is absolutely adorable," DeGeneres said. As BuzzFeed reports, the couple has two other dogs, Augie and Wolf.
The joke has a bit of a bite to it as DeGeneres jokingly hints that she's sick of being dogged (pun intended) by the endless rumors and questions surrounding her decision to procreate or not. She said, "There have been rumors forever, when are you and Portia gonna have a kid? So now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop."
She goes on to compare Kid to, well, a kid, "He's 9 weeks old and cute as can be, but I'll tell you what's not cute is to wake up at 11, and 1, and 3, and 5. And then 5 is when he's up, up."
