I. Marlene King drops 2 big bombshells about Pretty Little Liars

Ever since Allyson Koerner can remember, she's been in a committed relationship — with the entertainment and TV world, that is. After receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and journalism, respectively, she's been living...

Is 'Uber A' the sign of a grim future for Pretty Little Liars?

On Tuesday night, Pretty Little Liars fans were delivered some shocking news when it was reported that the beloved drama might be done (for good) after Season 7. Well, before you panic even more, showrunner I. Marlene King is clearing the air about the rumor.

Variety reported on Tuesday that PLL Season 7 would be the last, according to a chat the outlet had with King. "I think that this story when we're back will end next year at the at end of Season 7," King said.

Variety then asked: "So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7, and don't want it to go beyond that?" To which King answered: "Correct."

It's easy to misconstrue King's statement. However, if you go back and reread it, it appears she's saying that whatever story is being told in 6B will wrap by the end of Season 7. Well, that's exactly what King tweeted Tuesday night.

She posted, "What I said was 'This Uber A story that starts on January 12 will end when season 7 ends.' I did not say PLL will end. Just sayin 4 real."

So, there you have it. At this time, PLL isn't ending. That said, anyone else notice that she referred to 6B's "big bad" as "Uber A"? King, are you telling fans that there is a new A in Rosewood? Or, are you just teasing that the new "big bad" will be like an "Uber A"? Whatever the case, here's a tweet from King that might help clarify things. She wrote, "Technically I was supposed to say 'the new big bad' but let's get real, it's 'uber A.' #whatwehavebeenwaitingfor"

Well, that doesn't really help, but leave it to King to tease fans by throwing out a major bombshell about 6B's villain. As if fans don't torture themselves enough, now they are going to theorize even more about "Uber A" and if he/she is another A, if he/she is connected to Charlotte, or if the "big bad" is like an "Uber A" but not really A.

Let the madness begin, but, at least, PLL isn't ending — for now.

Pretty Little Liars Season 6B premieres Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 8/7c on Freeform, the new name for ABC Family.
