Although Monica had no clue she was the Tribal Council target, it was a blindside secret Survivor viewers were in on. Her demise was evident within the opening segment before the show's title sequence even rolled.
Her loser edit began when conflict struck between Monica and Kimmi as they were gathering clams. Kimmi was grabbing a bunch to bring back to camp, but Monica wasn't OK with it. She suggested they not take so many clams from the water because she was worried they were depleting their supply.
Kimmi couldn't contain her true feelings on the situation. "A bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush," Kimmi said in confessional while mocking Monica's mind-set.
Does she really think they're depleting that whole body of water of clams?? #Survivor— Cindy (@Steadyspirit) October 22, 2015
Then, Monica was singled out for totally sucking in the Reward Challenge.
Monica's obvious loser edit tonight #Survivor— avan✨ (@kwentworths) October 22, 2015
If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen I predicted Monica's elimination shortly after the episode began.
Her obvious ouster became even more obvious when she started trying to change up the plans on who her allies were targeting. Instead of keeping the strategy in place to take out Kelly, she started inadvertently stirring up trouble for herself by continuing her hopeless push for an all-women's alliance. Kimmi, again frustrated with Monica, wasn't having any of it and dished all the dirt to Jeremy and Stephen.
#Survivor Wigglesworth had like no screen time. I don't think she's going. It will probably be Monica.— Jase Wilams (@jasewilams) October 22, 2015
If that wasn't enough, Monica's confident comment that the vote was "locked in" at Tribal Council essentially sealed the deal. Never get too cocky on Survivor.
The thing that made Monica's blindside so beautiful is that the editors essentially clued the viewers in with the likely outcome. It was so much fun watching Monica's jaw hit the dirt as Kimmi couldn't conceal her sly smirk. Spencer and Kelly were equally stunned, which made it even more entertaining. Twitter quickly filled with chatter about the blindside.
Now that Monica has been voted out I guess they can now have all the clams they want... #Survivor— Big Brother Always (@BigBroAlways) October 22, 2015
On a personal note, I've met Monica in the past. She really is an amazingly nice person, but her time on the show this season was nothing short of disappointing. There was so much talk on social media about viewers forgetting who she even is or what previous season she competed on, which made me curious about who voted for her to return. Her spot would have been much better filled, I think, by Season 3's Teresa "T-Bird" Cooper. Agree?
The episode wouldn't have been complete without some Abi-Maria nastiness. After Woo told a very emotional story about his mother suffering a heart attack and receiving a heart transplant, Abi took her mouth a little too far.
Although his story was clearly genuine, Abi felt he was trying to pull the sympathy card. In a confessional, Abi said she's had personal struggles in life, too. You know, having a tendon replacement is just as significant as a heart transplant. Well, in Abi's mind it is.
Omg Abi really? U have no empathy 4 any1 it was extremely obvious Woo being real if not his "performance" would be Oscar worthy #survivor— ginger (@ginnykc) October 22, 2015
