Jase and Missy told Entertainment Tonight that forgiving and staying married aren't the same thing.
"As far as the relationship, that's gotta be her decision whether or not she want to go on without him," Missy said. "She certainly has that right, because he interrupted their marriage with those affairs, but forgiveness is not really a choice, you know, if you want forgiveness from God."
Jase added, "You can forgive somebody, but that doesn't mean there's not consequences for your actions."
It was revealed back in August 2015 that Josh was using the site Ashley Madison to cheat on his wife with multiple women.
Following the newest scandal, in which Josh also admitted that he was addicted to pornography, he checked into a long-term rehab facility to get help.
Though Jase and Missy have been faithfully married for 25 years, they have experienced infidelity in their family. Jase's older brother, Alan, found out his wife, Lisa, was having a 14-month affair, which she herself talked about in her memoir.
"He chose to forgive her and welcome her back, and I was mad about that for probably about three or four years. In fact, [it was] so bad, me and Lisa, I didn't even speak to her," Jase revealed. Jase added that in their case, things worked out for the best and Lisa was able to become "a great woman of God."
But the Robertsons were sure to say, "[There are] different circumstances for different people."
Missy said that Anna Duggar is "definitely a victim in this whole situation."
"They're going to have to deal with it themselves and get past it and try to savor some of the experiences they had, and memories," Missy added, "and also make a new life for themselves — whether it's together or apart."
