On the red carpet for the 67th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday night, Rodriguez let slip some details about the show's upcoming season, in which we already know both Britney Spears and Kesha will be guest starring.
"They're awesome and they've both been very, very humble and very excited to be part of the show, and Britney... we're going to have a lot of great surprises," Rodriguez said about the two new additions to the hit CW show's second season.
When E!'s Ryan Seacrest asked for spoilers from upcoming episodes, Rodriguez shut him down.
"I can't!" she said.
But she did continue on, telling us that Spears "plays herself... She's going to do phenomenal."
Unfortunately, Rodriguez cut us off there, so we'll have to wait for the actual show to find out more.
We learned back in August that Spears had landed a guest role on the show, which she confirmed with a tweet saying, "See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue"
Variety reported at the time that Spears will join the show on the fifth episode of the upcoming season.
"We are so thrilled that Rogelio’s ‘nemesis’ — Britney Spears — has agreed to appear on Jane the Virgin in episode 205," showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman said in a statement. "Personally, after hearing about their longstanding feud (from Rogelio’s point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’ side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney"
She continued, "It turns out she’s a real nemesis of Rogelio, but the quality of their interaction is in dispute of what Rogelio thinks and what Britney thinks."
