As fans will remember, Season 1 ended with Viola Davis' Annalise Keating and Charlie Weber's Frank Delfino discovering the body of Rebecca Sutter under her staircase. That left us all with one question: Who is the new killer? Here's what we've learned from the new trailer.
As the duplicitous Frank observes of Rebecca's killer in the teaser, "Whoever did this had to be strong enough to drag her behind the stairs." Well, considering his past (in Season 1, it was revealed that he killed Lila) he would be the one to know. Does his criminal history mean he could've also murdered Rebecca? We'll have to stay tuned to find out.
He also pops up in the trailer later, standing in a doorway shirtless. We only see the back of the girl standing in front of him, but it seems safe to presume it's Laurel (Karla Souza), given their history.
I know, I know, Wes and Rebecca were sickeningly in love in Season 1. But as Annalise not-so-subtly asks in the trailer, "Why are we more inclined to hurt the ones we love the most?" As if that wasn't enough of a clue, she asks while staring right at a guilty-looking Wes. Could he be the killer? It'd be hard to believe, but it seems it's a possibility.
Whether it's Wes, Frank, or someone else completely, fans don't have to worry about waiting too long to find out who Rebecca's murderer is. As the new clip promises, "the killer will be revealed" right in the season premiere — it looks like that will be far from the only crazy moment of the episode. Who else is so happy that #TGIT is almost back?
As the clip shows, members of the Keating Five aren't holding up too well in the aftermath of Season 1's gruesome events. Case in point? Michaela (Aja Naomi King) is seen drinking at a bar and crying. Clearly, the stress of trying to get away with murder is getting to her.
Like her students, Annalise is having a hard time coping with all the terrible stuff she's done in the past. As showrunner Pete Nowalk described to The Hollywood Reporter, "What has Annalise wrought? How does she live with herself doing all the bad things she does? That is something that every character is dealing with thematically: We did this terrible thing, why don't we just turn ourselves in? Why do we want to keep going?"
That struggle is captured in the teaser, when an obviously unsettled Annalise yells to someone outside the frame, "Now that you've done this, you're a monster!" Now if only we could see who she was talking to….
Outside of the murder situation, one member of the Keating Five is also facing some drama relationshipwise. In Season 2, HTGAWM will show how fan favorite couple, Connor (played by Jack Falahee) and Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) deal with the news of Oliver's HIV diagnosis from the Season 1 finale.
