But her skit at the 2015 MTV VMAs missed the mark in a big, big way. Wilson took the stage to present Best Hip-Hop Video dressed as a cop.
She then proceeded to confuse and offend, well… just about everyone. She stripped off her costume to reveal a t-shirt that read F*** Tha Stripper Police. All of this before handing over the Moon Man to Nicki Minaj.
And people are not happy.

Rebel Wilson's got her nerve presenting Best Hip-Hop Video while making a joke out of police/state violence. But I digress. #VMAS— Derrick Clifton (@DerrickClifton) August 31, 2015
When's the last time you heard a Holocaust, Sandy Hook, or Columbine joke at an awards show? Exactly. https://t.co/mBnjbra3QP— deray mckesson (@deray) August 31, 2015

Some people think that Wilson might have been dealt a hand she didn't understand, since she’s an Aussie.
I've kind of always thought Rebel Wilson "doesn't really get it," and I'm finally vindicated— Dan D'Addario (@DPD_) August 31, 2015
If MTV and Rebel Wilson need a few (just a few) reasons why it is not funny to make light of police brutality or people being killed (not just by the police but by anyone for that matter), here are a few: Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Walter Scott, and Freddie Gray.
I could go on, but I think you understand why this just plain isn’t funny. And I don't think you need to be from America to realize that.
