Teen Mom's Jenelle Evans shouldn't have custody of her son if her new statement is true

The former star of Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant has had more than her fair share of ups and downs. But she's also been arrested more than 10 times in five years, and her mom currently has custody of her eldest son, 5-year-old Jace.

Supposedly, Jenelle is working to regain custody of Jace.

But a new interview seems to say otherwise.

"We're trying to work together, me and my mom, to try to come up with a solution," Jenelle told Us Weekly in a new interview. "We've been on good terms lately and especially because she sees that I'm just trying to get myself prepared for my future. And she sees that's the most important thing to me right now, and I think she appreciates that a lot."

Here's the real kicker, though: Jenelle straight up says in the interview that regaining custody of Jace is not her top priority.

"I'm so busy with school and my externship," the medical clinical student said. "I'm trying to tell my mom, my lawyer, and everyone, I'm like, 'Look, I know Jace is important right now, but, you know, my graduation is coming up in July.' So I mean, that is just, it's the no. 1 priority right now."

While finishing school is a noble goal, for sure, we have to call Jenelle out for her statements. Admitting that Jace isn't her top priority? That's not an OK thing for a mom to do, especially online. On the internet, that kind of statement lives forever. That means when Jace is older, he could very well stumble upon an article that contains these remarks.

We can't even imagine the kind of psychological damage that could be caused to a child by finding out online that he isn't his mom's top priority. If these remarks are true, Jace is better off living with his grandma. Here's hoping she treats him like a human with feelings and needs, and not like an item on a to-do list like his mom clearly does.
